Garage Ma-Overhaul

When we first moved in it was apparent that the previous owners had plans to close in the garage and make it into a couple of rooms, possibly?  Seeing as how they had removed the garage doors, framed in the exterior wall and put siding up.  There was a ton of drywall lying around as well.  One day when my dad was over piddling around, while we were still in Athens mind you, he noticed a lot of measurements on the floor, like where walls would be, dimensions for halls, doorways, etc.  You get the picture.  Well, the only thing that had been done was framing in the exterior wall.  So, of course, I inherit the task of either completing the project or turning it back into a functioning garage.  It was decided to continue the enclosing and turn it into a room/workshop/whatev.

And so begins the Garage Ma-Overhaul.

Step One:  Put up drywall on the exterior wall.

Done.  The first week we were in the house, my uncle came down and helped me put up the drywall.  However, I have yet to finishing mudding in the joints and making it "paint ready".  Oh, we also put insulation in to make it a bit more energy efficient.  It has looked like this since May...hey, it's closed in ok!

Step Two:  Remove extra sheets of drywall and patch holes in drywall created by previous owners.  66.67% complete.  This picture shows one hole patched, one waiting for it's band-aid.

Regardless of why these holes were made, they were made.  And now they are no more.

Step Three:  Begin painting newly patched wall to house some "sweet" cabinets I scored for free.  Done, but no picture available at this time.  In the meantime, here's a look at the cabinets that will go on the wall.

As I got them...

And all primed and ready for paint...

Obviously a work in progress.  Pictures to come of the freshly painted wall and hopefully newly installed cabinets for my "workshop".  Oh, and the color of choice for the walls is "earl grey".  The cabinets will be "afternoon tea", but I promise, this will be no tea room...

Progress reports will be given periodically.  Stay tuned...

So if it's not going to be a tea room, what is it going to be?

Hopefully a "workshop". That's the plan anyway.
